Former Majority Leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale now says it is clear Deputy President William Ruto is not President Uhuru’s choice for the top seat in the 2022 race for State House.

Duale’s remarks come barely a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta tactically endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga for State House.

Uhuru who was speaking in Nakuru County on Wednesday, November 1, where he officially handed over the Instruments of City Conferment to Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, ostensibly hit back at his estranged deputy party leader who has on several times called for the retirement of opposition leader Raila Odinga.

In his message, which some speculate could be an indirect campaign for former Prime Minister, the president said age occasions wisdom, an important attribute in leadership.

“I want to caution our leaders. Let’s early campaigns. Leadership will come, bide your time,” Uhuru said in an apparent reference to Ruto’s early campaigns.

“If somebody comes and says this person or that person is old, tell them not take politics with (reckless) speed. “Speed is dangerous. Pole pole ndio It is better you go slowly and get where mwendo (taking it slow is the way to go). Leadership is in the head,” he added.

But Duale who has in the recent past hit news headlines for criticizing the President said the Head of State could have picked someone from the ruling party if he has differences with his deputy.

“It could have been very good if President Uhuru Kenyatta picked someone from Jubilee even if it is not DP William Ruto,” Aden Duale said.
