Outspoken COTU boss Francis Atwoli has vowed to travel to UK, UK, and Israel in the coming week to warn Kenyans against William Ruto’s presidency.
Addressing the press in his office on Monday, March 7, the vocal unionist said he will use the trip to explain to the Kenyans living in the diaspora that DP Ruto is a corrupt individual.
“I am going to London. Next week on Wednesday I will be there, from there I will be going to the US then head to Israel, wherever he has gone I will be there,” the COTU boss said.
The outspoken unionist said he will use his tour, to explain to Kenyans living in the diaspora that DP Ruto is not fit to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August presidential election.
“I will be telling Kenyans, the first Kenya deputy president after independence, in 1963 who is an open thief, fearless thief, was here last week and what he was telling you were pure lies,” Atwoli added.
The sentiments by the vocal COTU boss come after DP Ruto launched a scathing attack on him over his opposition to the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) bill in 2020.
The deputy president took issue with Atwoli’s move to oppose a proposal that sought to increase contributions to the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) for people with higher incomes.
“How do you explain that a trade unionist would defend a system where the Deputy President earning KSh1 million pays KSh1,700 to NHIF while a peasant making KSh5,000 a month pays KSh500 which is 10 percent of their income?” Ruto posed.
“The people at the bottom are carrying a heavy load than those at the top and somebody wants to tell us it is fair. This isn’t fair. We cannot continue to tolerate the likes of Atwoli” said Ruto.
