Nyeri Town MP changes tune after video of him demonising Raila, praising Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Nyeri Town, Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has changed tune on his stand to support ODM leader Raila Odinga after a past video of him demonising the former premier went viral online.

In the past video, Wambugu in an interview on NTV’s The Trend show, the legislator is on record saying he knows Raila Odinga very well while warning against the ODM leader being elected president of Kenya.

Wambugu goes ahead to justify his warning by saying he had worked with Raila before as head of political affairs so he knew how dangerous he (Raila) is if he becomes president.

In the same interview, Ngunjiri heaps praise on William Ruto, committing to support the former Eldoret North Mps 2022 presidential bid.

After a week of the video going viral, the outspoken Wambugu has said he has since changed tune after Raila Odinga ‘become a statesman.

“Things changed. Raila became a statesman. Ruto became an anarchist,” Wambugu tweeted while attaching the viral video.

His statement came a day after he threatened to dump President Uhuru and join William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance, a threat he withdrew barely 24 hours later committing to stay in the Jubilee party.

“Over the last 5 days, I have deliberately been engaging men, women, and youth of all walks of life across Nyeri Town to listen again to what they want me to do as we head into 2022,

“I was told that if I make the mistake of leaving Jubilee or stop working with (President) Uhuru Kenyatta I should not dare run for Nyeri Town MP in 2022,” the Nyeri town MP said.

The MP has on more than one occasion come out as a typical politician with no principles but selfish interest presented as principles.

From 2013, when he was at the heart of Raila’s presidential campaign think-tank, to now, Ngunjiri has changed political stands more than some seasoned politicians.

The political science and philosophy expert was first elected into parliament in the 2017 General Election on a Jubilee Party ticket.
