“It has regrettably come to my attention that unscrupulous criminal elements are moving from one government office to the next intimidating state officials and extorting money in my name,

“I call upon Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and CEOs of state corporations to be wary of these crooks and promptly report them to the appropriate authorities for swift action,” he stated.

Kosgei who serve as Agriculture Cabinet Secretary under the Jubilee regime further said that any individual found masquerading as himself will face stern legal action.

“The era of criminals taking advantage of gullible Kenyans seeking jobs and government services by misusing names of senior state officials is long gone, and firm action will be taken against these elements,” said Koskei.

It is understood that the impersonation of senior government officials has been on the rise in the recent past.

The cartels goes ahead to create fake social media to swindle money from unsuspecting Kenyans with false promise that they will be employed.

For instance, in March 2023, a fake Facebook account in the name of Kenya Police Service/s deputy inspector general (DIG), Abdalla Komesha was created.

This was after Komesha took over the reins from acting DIG Edward Mbugua on March 21 following his retirement.
