Don Bosco: There is plan to kill independent presidential candidate for Raila’s benefit

by Enock Ndayala

UDA politician Don Bosco Gichana has claimed that there is a well-planned scheme to assassinate one of the independent presidential candidates ahead of the August 9, elections.

In a statement posted on Twitter on Sunday, May 8, Gichana who is seeking the Kitutu Chache parliamentary seat in this year’s polls said the move is expected to help the Azimio la Umoja-OK presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga win the presidency.

While warning the 47 presidential aspirants cleared by Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu to watch out for their safety, Gichana opined that the assassination will prompt the IEBC to postpone the presidential polls.

UDA politician Don Bosco Gichana has claimed that there is a well-planned scheme to assassinate one of the independent presidential candidates ahead of the August 9, elections.

This, according to the businessman-cum-politician will help the so-called ‘deep state’ to bank on elected governors in drumming up support for ODM leader Raila Odinga who the Kenya Kwanza coalition believe is backed by the government.

“One of the independent presidential candidates will be assassinated. That will postpone the presidential elections to pave way for them to evaluate Gubernatorial, Senatorial, and Parliamentary elections. Winners will be bought to campaign for a deep state candidate. Watch out. Bye,” Gichana said.

According to Article 38(8)(b) death of a candidate for election as President or Deputy President on or before the scheduled election date would lead to the cancellation of the presidential election.

The Constitution further states that once the presidential elections have been canceled, the IEBC will have to plan for a new presidential election within 60 days after the date set for the previous presidential election.

However, the other electoral offices shall not be affected by the cancellation of the presidential elections.

The Wafula Chebukati-led commission will have to guarantee all the 47 plus presidential candidates of their safety as the race to State House hots up to avoid the cancellation of presidential elections.
