DP Gachagua lists what Raila demanded from President Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

On Tuesday, August 22, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that opposition leader Raila Odinga secretly met with President William Ruto.

The second in command who spoke at the burial ceremony of the late Anne Musau, who is the mother of Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, in Machakos, termed the ongoing bipartisan talks “a waste of time.”

He revealed that the Head of State met with the former Prime Minister where the two struck a deal that saw him suspend his anti-government protests.

Gachagua, who has been branded as “truthful” further, revealed that Raila demanded a handshake, three ambassadors, and half of the government.

He further revealed that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader demanded some money.

The former Mathira Member of Parliament however said the president declined Raila’s demands except for the cash saying that as Kenya Kwanza they would only discuss the amount of money he needed to peacefully retire.

“Raila asked for half of the government, we said no, he asked for a handshake we said no, he asked for three ambassadors and we said no. We said yes if he wants some money to eat, we can discuss it,” Gachagua said.

Being the second in command, Gachagua has maintained that he will not allow the veteran politician to infiltrate into the Kenya Kwanza regime.

It is worth noting that when Raila infiltrated the Jubilee administration through the March 2018 handshake with then-president Uhuru Kenyatta, the then-sitting deputy president William Ruto was sidelined from the government.

This according to analysts is believed to be the main reason why the now deputy president is working hard to ensure the ongoing Bomas talks do not yield results.
