The much-hyped bipartisan talks between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja teams met on Monday, August 14, at the Bomas of Kenya.

The two teams led by National Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka are working to ensure they resolve the political stalemate in the country.

The talks which are expected to be finalized before September started on a low tone with former Nigerian President Olesegun Obasanjo who was to be the lead mediator not attending the talks.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga had earlier maintained that they will ask Azimio supporters to remain indoors should the ongoing bipartisan talks fail to yield results.

However, on Tuesday, August 15, former Muranga governor Mwangi wa Iria called for the splitting of the country into two should the ongoing talks hit a dead end.

Wa Iria who spoke in Emali where he joined other Azimio leaders for the funeral service of Brian Malika Mwendwa, who was shot dead by the police during the recent anti-government protests urged the Kalonzo Musyoka led team to shut down the process if their counterparts continue to chest thump instead f being objective.

“If the Kenya Kwanza team in the Bipartisan talks continues to chest thump instead of being objective, then we can as well shut down the process and split this country so that, the so-called ‘shareholders’ remain with their company, and we can have a chance to form our own government that protects the ordinary mwananchi,” Wa Iria said.

The former County boss further said that the Azimio was not interested in ‘Nusu Mkate’ adding that already the Kenya Kwanza government has shared the bread amongst themselves and left nothing for common mwananchi.

“No one is interested in a nusu mkate as Kenya Kwanza claims. The so-called ‘shareholders’ have already shared the entire bread between themselves, leaving out the rest of the country. The only thing we can ask for is the splitting of Kenya so that every citizen gets a government they feel comfortable in,” he said.
