Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli sensationally claimed God cannot allow Deputy President William Ruto to be Kenya’s fifth President ahead of the 2022 General Election.
Speaking to Citizen TV, the vocal unionist said his God has never failed him insisted the deputy president does not respect those in senior leadership positions, something he said will make him not occupy State House.
“I am not dying tomorrow because I am a just man of God. William Ruto will not win (the 2022 presidential) election. Take it from me. I am on national TV. God will not allow William Ruto to be Kenya’s President,” Francis Atwoli said with his trademark conviction.
Atwoli said the recently rebranded United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party William Ruto said will use to seek the 2022 presidency, will serve in the opposition after the much-awaited General Election.
“Am not saying that UDA is not a party… It is a political party that will serve in the opposition…William Ruto is not going to win the election. Take it from me,” Atwoli said.
According to the flamboyant unionist, the deteriorating relationship between President Uhuru and his deputy was a result that Ruto failed to respect and support his party leader something that made the Head of State consider backing Raila Odinga for the country’s top seat.
“If you are a deputy aspiring to be a president in the future, you have to support the person currently in power until the end of his term,
“By doing so, he will also support your bid. You will improve your chances and if you stay humble you will easily get into office,” he said.
Atwoli further accused William Ruto of going to seek the votes from President Uhuru’s turf, the Mt Kenya region without following due process
“If you are to ask the Mt Kenya region for votes you have to go through the leadership of the area. Ruto is not a son of Wanjiru or Wambui so he cannot handle the mountain region,” Atwoli went on.
