Investigations ordered against MP Richard Onyanka’s inciteful speech

by Antynet Ford

The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has ordered Investigations against Kitutu Chache Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka over his inciteful remarks.

The DPP’s instructions have come after Kenyans on Twitter demanded the Onyonka be arrested and Investigations to be conducted over the Legislature’s speech during the weekend, where he asked the DP to be careful of hostile reaction.

“Watu wetu waliuawa kule Eldoret na West Pokot. Bado hatujasahau, tumekusamehe lakini wakati Huu ukigusa Mkisii hata mmoja, hutawahi Kuja hapa Kisi (Our people were killed in Eldoret and West Pokot. We forgave you (William Ruto) but this time around if someone hurts anyone from the Kisii community, you will never set foot in Kisii) I,” Onyonka indirectly sated to Deputy Williams Ruto.

The DPP has further instructed that the investigation by the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai be hastened and the file submitted after seven days.

The Kenyans demand for Investigations came after Meru Senator Mithika Linturi was also arrested on Sunday 9th in Eldoret over his Saturday speech which was termed to make the 2007 Post Violence Elections wounds fresh.
Deputy President William Ruto has today apologized on behalf of Linturi and asked the state agencies to be fair and deal with everyone who incites Kenyans as we head to the General Elections.

“We want every inciter in Kenya, whether from UDA or the other side, to apply the law equally so that we can secure our nation. We are a democratic party,” said Ruto.

Linturi and other UDA leaders including Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Sholei said the statement by Linturi was misunderstood and people interpreted it to fit their needs.
