Jeremiah Kioni: Don’t be cheated, Raila is not interested in ‘Nusu Mkate’

Political fanatic Nuru Okanga has warned opposition leader Raila Odinga against associating himself with President William Ruto.

Former Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni has fired shots at Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah ahead of the bipartisan talks with the opposition.

This was after Ichungwah, who is leading the Kenya Kwanza’s five-member negotiation team said the opposition was pushing for a share in President William Ruto’s government.

Ichungwah who doubled up as National Assembly Majority Leader however maintained that they will only engage on the five agenda items.

He told Azimio to forget any handshake or power-sharing arrangement during the yet-to-start talks.

“As agreed, violence shall no longer and shall never be part of our nation’s political discourse. There shall be no discussion of whatever nature on matters handshake or “nusu mkate,” Ichung’wah said on Wednesday.

However, in an interview on Thursday, August 3, embattled Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni made it clear that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential flag bearer in the 2022 elections Raila Odinga was not after handshake kin to that of 2018.

Kioni, a close ally of the ODM party leader said Raila Odinga cannot work with President William Ruto and that he is not interested in ‘Nusu Mkate’.

“Raila cannot work with a person they cannot come together. So stop dreaming that Raila is interested in having a share in the government,” Kioni said.

It is worth noting that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya listed the cost of living as one of the major agenda to be discussed in the one-month-long bipartisan talks.

However, the Kenya Kwanza faction in its statement on Wednesday, August 2, insisted that they will not be a party to discussions surrounding the cost of living.

A similar initiative dubbed bipartisan talks suffered a stillbirth after Azimio and Kenya Kwanza disagreed on almost all issues leading to the opposition withdrawing from the talks.
