List of Kenya Kwanza’s five-member team to face Raila’s

President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza has unveiled a five-member team to face the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition faction.

The Kenya Kwanza announced that it had settled on National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah to lead the bi-partisan talks with the opposition.

Other members appointed to the team include Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, Bungoma Woman Rep Catherin Wambilianga, and former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwah has castigated opposition leader Raila Odinga for rejecting President William Ruto’s proposal to solve Raila’s demands in Parliament.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 2, the Kenya Kwanza listed five agenda items that they intend to discuss with the Azimio coalition in resolving the political impasse with the opposition.

Some of the issues listed include the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as well as the implementation of the two-thirds gender rule.

Others were the establishment and the entrenchment of the Office of the Leader of the Opposition and the embedment of the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

The Kenya Kwanza team however maintained that there would not be discussion a kin to the 2018 handshake between opposition leader Raila Odinga and Rtd. President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“As agreed, there shall be no discussion of whatever nature on matters handshake or nusu mkate,” reads the statement.

The Kenya Kwanza further maintained that the cost of living will not feature in the fresh talks.

This was after the Head of State in an address to the nation earlier said the Kenya Kwanza government was working to subsidize production not consumption.

Kimani Ichungwa’s team will now face the five-member team unveiled over the weekend which is led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The delegation will include Minority Party Leader Opiyo Wandayi and DAP Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okon’go Omogeni, and Malindi Member of Parliament Amina Mnyazi.
