Jubilee, ODM clash over sharing of plum parliamentary posts

by Enock Ndayala
Deputy President William Ruto blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga for running down the economy.

Rtd. President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party has threatened to terminate its pre-election contract with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM that birthed Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.

A section of Jubilee party lawmakers is now accusing the Orange party of favoritism in the sharing of prestigious parliamentary positions.

The lawmakers led by Laikipia North MP Sarah Korere accused Raila’s party of what they termed as “first-hand conman ship and political banditry”.

They insisted that they will soon meet to chat their way out if none of the leaders elected on a Jubilee ticket will be allowed to sit in the powerful Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

“We were not coerced to join ODM in Azimio, we joined willingly and if they mistreat Jubilee members we will leave willingly because we have experienced firsthand the conmanship, politics of deceit, and political banditry by our brothers in Azimio” charged Laikipia North MP Sarah Korere said.

Their sentiments come shortly after the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party scrapped off Sirisia MP John Waluke’s name from the list presented to parliament for consideration to the PSC.

Further, Eldas MP Adan Keynan (Jubilee) who spared no efforts lobbying for the post to extend his fifteen years in the commission also missed the slot.

Both Keynan and Waluke were elected on a Jubilee party ticket under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party whose presidential candidate was Raila Odinga.

The Azimio instead approved Likoni MP Mishi Mboko (ODM), Mavoko MP Patrick Makau (Wiper), and Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo (Jubilee) in the last-minute changes.

Azimio had been given three slots to nominate two names from the National Assembly and one from the Senate while Kenya Kwanza Alliance had four slots.

The Jubilee party, which is the second largest party in Azimio after ODM  now says failure by one of their own to sit in the powerful parliamentary committee will see they terminate their pre-election agreement with Raila’s party.
