Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s ODM party has scoffed at those criticizing President William Ruto’s unending foreign trips.

Raila Odinga’s ODM has outsmarted Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA as the most popular political party in Kenya ahead of the August 9, elections.

According to an opinion poll by Mizani Africa, the Orange party had an approval rating of 46.3 percent whereas UDA, a party heavily linked to the deputy president had 34.6 percent.

The findings which were released on Friday, January 21, placed Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) at 6.1 while Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s recently registered Chama Cha Kazi emerged fourth most popular political party at 5.6 percent.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party closed the top five scooping an approval rating of 4.4 percent whereas other political parties shared the remaining 3 percent.

With less than 200 days to the August 9, General Election, the survey further placed former prime minister Raila Odinga as Nairobi’s best presidential candidate.

In the polls, the ODM leader who is giving his fifth stab at the presidency got 42. percent while the deputy president came second with 31.4 percent.

The presidential front runners were closely followed by One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals Musalia Mudavadi of ANC and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka who came third and fourth with 3.4 and 2.5 percent respectively.

Raila has overtaken William Ruto who had earlier emerged as not only the most preferred presidential hopeful but also whose party was named the most popular outfit in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

Prior to the December 10 declaration by the opposition chief, a survey by Mizani Africa had placed Deputy President William Ruto ahead of his perceived main challenger in the 2022 presidential race.

The survey conducted between 1st October to 13th October 2021 across 11 Counties in the Mt Kenya region showed that William Ruto’s UDA party was the most preferred political party.
