President Ruto dismantled State House bar area

by Enock Ndayala

Kenya’s President William Ruto has reportedly pulled down a bar he found built inside the State House.

City lawyer Donald Kipkorir on Thursday, April 20, said in a Twitter thread that the bar that used to serve wine and alcohol to the guests at the House on the Hills is no longer functional.

Kipkorir who had paid a courtesy call to the president said he was served beef but there was no wine.

“I was given delicious short ribs without wine!” Kipkorir who campaigned against William Ruto revealed.

This he said forced him to order a glass of wine only for him to be told that the bar is no longer in existence.

“I asked President William Ruto for a glass of wine and he told me he pulled down the bar that was there,” Kipkorir added.

President Ruto’s predecessors Uhuru Kenyatta and late President Mwai Kibaki were reportedly to be lovers of wine and used to frequent the bar.

However, unlike his predecessors, the revelation that Ruto brought down a bar inside the house on the hill gives credence to Ruto’s character as a teetotaler.

The bringing down of the bar at the State House adds to the raft of changes the first in command made when he became President.

Other overhauls included changing the presidential standard, changing the portrait of former President Uhuru with his portrait, and removing mounted photos on the walls on the day Uhuru gave Ruto a tour of the State House.

Kipkorir who drummed up support for President William Ruto’s bitter rival Raila Odinga termed his visit to State House as humbling adding that it was meant to mend the broken fences between him and the president.

“It was a humbling experience meeting the President and repairing our friendship. We reminisced over our friendship that goes back to 1992,” the famed lawyer said.
