Ruto ally welcomes Jubilee party’s plan to kick her out of parliamentary job

Laikipia woman representative Cate Waruguru has said she is ready to pay the price for ditching the Jubilee party for Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance party.

While welcoming her impending removal from parliamentary committee role, Waruguru said she will not withdraw her support for William Ruto even if it will cost her the plum position.

On Wednesday, January 19, Waruguru who is eying Laikipia East parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket said she was not worried about the imminent purge adding that she had fairly done her part which has seen significant strides in the Agriculture sector.

“If my removal is the sacrifice I’ll have to pay for being part and parcel of the Hustler Nation so be it. I have done my part which has seen significant strides in the sector spearheaded by the Committee,

“I have complete confidence in my colleagues who are equally qualified to be part of the committee. I hereby reiterate my unequivocal support for UDA and its ideologies,” she said.

On Tuesday, January 18, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party announced plans to ax disloyal Jubilee MPs including the Laikipia Woman Rep.

Through a letter to the clerk of the National Assembly, Jubilee majority whip Emmanuel Wangwe targeted to ax four members from parliamentary committees.

“If they provide satisfactory and convincing answers, the matter will not proceed beyond the letter. If no satisfactory answer is provided, the party will be free to de-whip them from those positions,” Wangwe said.

Apart from Waruguru, the Jubilee purge further targeted Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani who is the vice-chairman of the Lands Committee and Bura MP Ali Wario who is the vice-chair of the Regional and Integration committee.

Others on the chopping board included Eldama Ravine MP Moses Lessonet who is in the Budgets and Appropriation committee is also to lose his membership should the jubilee party make good its plan.
