Speculation as Tim Wanyonyi meet Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnston Sakaja

Tim Wanyonyi has left Kenyans asking questions about his next political move after photos of him meeting Johnston Sakaja surfaced.

Westland MP Tim Wanyonyi has left Kenyans asking questions about his next political move after photos of him meeting the Kenya Kwanza alliance candidate for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat Johnston Sakaja.

Wanyonyi was snubbed by the Azimio la Umoja One-Kenya coalition after they settled on former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe as their sole candidate who did the top city job.

But on Friday, April 22, Sakaja who will be flying the hustler’s flag for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat shared photos of him meeting with Wanyonyi in a joint within the city.

In the photos, Sakaja captioned using the phrase that was recently coiled by Wanyonyi after he was asked to step down for Igathe.

“Sio Mimi ni sisi. Let’s make Nairobi work.” Sakaja captioned the pictures of him and Wanyonyi.

And in an apparent hit at the ODM party for abandoning the Westland MP, Sakaja added a hashtag in his native language, Khulialala(We are together).

More strangely is that the Westland MP has not made any public pronouncement following that deal that saw him pull out of the race.

While announcing the Azimio-One Kenya Alliance lineup for Nairobi City County, the ODM leader Raila Odinga revealed that Wanyonyi will be defending his seat during the August poll.

In the lineup, Jubilee’s Polycarp Igathe will fly the gubernatorial flag and will be deputized by former Kibwezi MP Philip Kaloki who is from the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper Democratic Movement party.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna was handed the senatorial ticket while incumbent Esther Passaris will fly the Woman Representative flag.

The meeting between Wanyonyi and Sakaja points to the fact that the Westland MP was not fully behind the Azimio consensus outcome.

What remains to be seen is whether he will declare his support for Sakaja as a payback to the Azimio team.
