Susan Kihika asks Raila not to compare his father to William Ruto

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has taken a swipe at ODM leader Raila Odinga after the opposition chief challenged William Ruto to o the hounorable thing and resign from the government if he feels unwanted or unused.

Raila Odinga, in a live interview with five major Kikuyu radio stations on Friday, August 27, asked the Deputy President to resign, just like his father, Jaramogi Onginga resigned when he could no longer work with President Uhuru’s father.

The outspoken senator took to her social media platform to tell Raila to stop comparing the deputy president and his father, Jaramogi Oginga who resigned from Kenya’s first government following cold treatment from the country’s first president, Jomo Kenyatta.

According to Susan Kihika, Raila Odinga’s father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga was appointed to the position by Jomo Kenyatta, unlike William Ruto who was elected by the people on a joint ticket with President Uhuru.

She wondered why Raila Odinga himself did not resign from the government when he was frustrated as Prime Minister under retired President Mwai Kibaki’s regime.

“On the hypocrisy of Raila (Odinga) asking William Ruto to resign like Jaramogi (Oginga Odinga); your father was not elected he was (President Jomo) Kenyatta’s appointee,

“As Prime Minister, you complained about the quality of your Toilet and Carpet (nusu mkate & nusu mkeka) you did not resign yet you were merely (retired President Mwai) Kibaki’s appointee. He (William Ruto) is staying put!” Susan Kihika wrote in a tweet.

Susan Kihika was making reference to the strained relations between Raila Odinga and then President Mwai Kibaki during the grand coalition government between 2008-2012.

Raila’s office was more less ceremonial as Mwai Kibaki and State House mandarins worked day and night to ensure the ODM leader’s office did nothing meaningful.

While Raila kept complaining about the mistreatment and demeaning of his office, he did not step down and served to the end of the regime’s term in the office.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen also responded to Raila Odinga comparing his father to William Ruto.

“To Raila Odinga, your purported human rights&rule of law credentials have quickly melted at the alter of Jubilee. Only 3 years ago you swore yourself in as a parallel President,

“Now you are cheering those attacking the Deputy President. Kalonzo (Musyoka) is running away because you would do worse to your deputy president,” Murkomen wrote.

He further insisted that William Ruto will still hold his position, as he prepares to take the Presidency in 2022.

The responses from the two Senators allied to William Ruto come after Raila Odinga’s call on Ruto to resign.

“If you see things are not okay and you are a principled person, just say things are not okay and resign,

“My father was the first VP. He did not wait to be sacked. When he saw that things had changed and was not being given assignments, he wrote a letter.” ” Raila Odinga said in the interview.
