Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka says President Ruto’s team not ready for bi-partisan talks

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says President William Ruto’s team is not committed to the dialogue process.

Speaking on Thursday, April 13, during a public Bazara in Nairobi, the former vice president said the Kenya Kwanza side was using delaying tactics to evade the dialogue.

“Kenya Kwanza is not serious about dialogue. They just want to waste time,” said Kalonzo Musyoka, one of the principals in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

The veteran politician wondered why the seven-member team selected earlier this week to represent President William Ruto wants to only address one issue yet Raila gave four issues for discussion.

“How can you prefix dialogue with denial in the first place that this is it? That, we can only discuss IEBC reconstitution… This makes me think they are not serious,” said Kalonzo.

While temporarily calling off the weekly protests, the former Prime Minister issued four demands including bringing down the cost of living, halting the ongoing process to reconstitute IEBC and the re-opening of IEBC servers among others.

The opposition leader further gave a seven-day ultimatum adding that they were ready to resume the weekly demos if the other side would not have shown seriousness.

However, it is now more than one week since Raila temporarily suspended the countrywide demonstrations but the talks are yet to commence.

This is despite the fact that both teams have selected their representatives with the Kenya Kwanza team being led by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.

As such, Kalonzo who was speaking at the Ufungamano Hall in Nairobi said the resolutions of the meeting must include a call for the return of protests.

“A time has come when we must call a spade a spade, they must recognize that all Kenyans have equal rights and that you cannot sit on my rights and pretend you are doing me a favor,” he said.
