Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has assured the Azimio la Umoja team that Deputy President William Ruto is Kenya’s next president.

Speaking in Mukure ward on Wednesday, February 9, when she commissioned worth KSh 125 million, the first-term county boss dared the President to back his handshake partner assuring him that he will be in for a rude shock.

She said the more President Uhuru Kenyatta embarrasses his deputy in public, the more he becomes popular adding that the first in command was indirectly selling his estranged deputy.

Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has assured the Azimio la Umoja team that Deputy President William Ruto is Kenya’s next president.

“For three years you have been going round humiliating and insulting the DP. Be aware that power belongs to the people and they are the ones who will vote in Ruto as their next president. The more you embarrass him, the more he rises,” she said.

She further accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of promoting politics of deceit for dropping the clearest hint that he will back his longtime political foe and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Waiguru, challenged the president to rally the vote-rich Mt Kenya region behind his deputy in honour of the support accorded to him in the 2013 and 2017 elections.

Her remarks come just days after the head of state took a swipe at his estranged deputy asking him to prepare for a political battle ahead of the August 9, General Election.

Uhuru who was speaking during the launch of the Annual Universal Healthcare Conference in Mombasa on Monday, February 7, said he rallied his deputy to shun the politicking but he failed to hear to the council.

“Now the time for politicking is here, you will hear from us. There is time to work and time to play politics; now everyone is free, those who started before and those of us who are joining the fray,” he told a gathering at the coastal town.
