Anne Waiguru speaks on her fights with PS Karanja Kibicho

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has been having a strained relationship with Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, who is believed to be eyeing the county’s gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Election.

Their fights have since intensified as Kirinyaga county is set to host the Mashujaa day on October 20, 2018.

In an interview with Daily Nation, Anne Waiguru said that PS Karanja Kibicho has been undermining her, hence their strained relationship.

“Just that feeling, undermining me, I think it is because I am a woman leader because I do not see it happening in other counties,” Waiguru said.

The governor added that through Karanja Kibicho, a senior government official wants to control Kirinyaga county.

“It just happened because there is somebody senior in government who, for whatever reason, I do not really know, wants to coordinate everything including leadership of Kirinyaga,” she told the Daily Nation.

Waiguru added that she does not trust PS Karanja Kibicho politically because of what she has gone through.

On the Mashuja day fete, Anne Waiguru said that Karanja Kibicho has not allowed her to have a say on political dynamics of that day.

“He is the one in charge. Out of the 3,000 people that will be there, they gave 150 cards for the executive and MCAs from Kirinyaga County. That makes it a bit uncomfortable,” she said.

Responding to Waiguru’s allegations, Kibicho said that the Mashuja day event is a natinal event, and they can not give priority to county officials only.

“There is no leader that has been given 300 cards, others have been given 5. You should decide whether it is politics or the truth,” he responded.

PS Karanja Kibicho, Anne Waiguru, and Woman Rep Purity Ngirici have been exchanging words since they are all eyeing the gubernatorial positions in 2022.

Recently, Kibicho and Wangui Ngirici joined hands, and this has been seen as a strategy to neutralize Waiguru.
