Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has given strong hints of joining United Democratic Alliance, a party heavily linked to William Ruto.
In a church service attended by Ruto on Sunday, December 5, the county boss who is a member of the Jubilee Party supported William Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022.
The governor categorically stated that the Jubilee house has become deserted due to many members defecting to William Ruto’s camp, hence his desire to cross to the ‘winning side
“I am the only Mt. Kenya governor remaining in Jubile and it is so lonely, but one thing I want to assure you I won’t join ODM, let us vote for William Ruto,” Mutahi Kahiga said.
The County boss fired a salvo at ODM leader Raila Odinga, saying that he only gives historical stories that are not helpful.
“We have accepted this history…there is one that we have refused…of a grown-up man(Raila) going around here 2 days giving us stories and leaving,” he said.
The Governor further confirmed what William Ruto has been saying, that whoever is seen around him is threatened by the state.
“In 2018 we were allowed to take tea with the deputy president…it reached a point that if you were seen with him you get a phone call,
“If you want to know the history of Kenya follow Raila, if you want to know the future, follow this man (Ruto),” he added.
The Governor went ahead to warn President Uhuru not to place his bet on Raila Odinga because he will lose the presidential race.
This big turn of events comes days after the governor was lecturing Raila Odinga during his tour of the Nyeri County.
On November 26, Kahiga attended Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja tour, where he cautioned him against repeating historical stories.
“It is not time to talk about history, it is time to talk about the present and where we are going. These Kikuyus from Mt Kenya want to hear what is there in your government for them,” he told Raila.
