by Enock Ndayala

President William Ruto is on Thursday, September 29, expected to address the first joint parliamentary siting in accordance with Article 132(1)(a) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

This will pave the way for the National Assembly to vet leaders proposed by the Head of State to fill up various Cabinet Secretary positions.

Among those named to fill up, the cabinet includes former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, former Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkome, and Garissa Township MP Aden Duale.

Others are Kandara MP Alice Wahome, former Central Bank of Kenya governor Njuguna Ndungu, and KenGen chief executive, Rebecca Miano.

While a section of Raila Odinga’s allies has poked holes in the proposed nominees for the cabinet, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has asked the parliament to approve all the cabinet nominees.

Ole Kina said although, some of the proposed nominees for the cabinet have pending court cases, the vocal senator said there was no angel in this country.

He said those who were harshly criticizing the proposed nominees were the most corrupt.

“A lot is being said … but let’s be honest with each other do we have an Angel in this country? Raise your hand if you are one! Let it be …Kwani? Aren’t we all hypocrites? Don’t we receive kickbacks when given a chance to serve as PS or minister? Approve them all!” Ole Kina said in a Tweet.

Other than having been involved in corruption cases, some of the nominees for the CS slots have active pending court cases.

Furthermore, the majority of the proposed nominees are politicians making a complete departure from his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta who settled on technocrats in his first term in office.
