Kenya Kwanza team led by Deputy President William Ruto has today stormed Narok County in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the coming election.

DP Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade held a mega rally at Olopirik Farm, Narok West Sub County where hundreds of locals turned up.

The rally was organized by Patrick Ole Ntutu, as the official launch of his campaign for the Narok County gubernatorial seat on a UDA ticket.

Ntutu’s candidature got a boost after Narok Women Representative Soipan Tuya and Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo for accepting to drop their bids and unanimously agreed to support him for the county seat.

Addressing the politically charged rally, DP Ruto blasted the Azimio team for spreading what he termed politics of fear and division within the county that is dominated by two communities of Maasai and the Kipsigis.

“Nyinyi mnajua wale ambao tunashindana nao wako na njama ya kugawanya Narok hii kwa misingi ya kikabila,” (You know that those who we are competing with (Azimio) have plans to divide this Narok on a tribal line) Ruto said.

The deputy president called on the locals not to allow politicians to divide them along tribal lines, and instead be united ahead of the August election.

Narok County which is touted to be among the battleground for the presidential contenders currently has got 397, 618 registered voters according to the latest data from Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

During the 2013 presidential election, Raila Odinga who was vying under CORD carried the day garnering 118,623 votes against President Uhuru Kenyatta who got 109, 413 votes.

In the 2017 election, President Uhuru toppled the ODM leader garnering 149,376 votes against 129,360 votes of Raila Odinga.
