Kipchumba Murkomen on how President Uhuru is slowly killing ODM

by Enock Ndayala

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of technically killing ODM, the strongest opposition party in Kenya.

While the President seeks at helping his handshake partner Raila Odinga to ascend to the presidency through the Azimio la Umoja, Murkomen said the whole scheme is aimed at killing Raila’s party.

In a Tweet seen by Kivumbi.co.ke on Monday, February 14, the vocal Tanga Tanga legislator argued that the formation of Azimio la Umoja by the head of state and the opposition partner is meant to revive the Jubilee party.

Apart from installing the former prime minister as a puppet president, Murkomen further termed Azimio la Umoja as a special vehicle whose plan is to make Jubilee stronger at the expense of ODM.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta is not supporting Raila Odinga he is extending his reign by installing a puppet. Azimio is the special purpose vehicle and the plan is to make Jubilee have at least 30 MPs. In the end, ODM will be the 4th largest Party and won’t even qualify to be the minority party,” he said.

Last year, the registrar of political parties Ann Nderitu approved an application to reserve ‘Azimio la Umoja‘ as coalition name giving a node to a Narc-like Coalition.

This means that the ODM leader Raila Odinga will now contest in the August election as Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate with the support of all the other parties in Azimio.

Unlike it is now where they have to run on the affiliate party ticket, the Azimio la Umoja will give affiliate parties funds irrespective of their performance in the coalition.

To strengthen their Azimio la Umoja ahead of the 2022 General Election President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party said it is seeking to woo other political parties into their bandwagon.
