Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has sensationally claimed he is related to Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga

In an interview on Hot 96 on November 2, the LSK President who is an aspiring member of parliament for Westlands boasted of his formidable relationship with the ODM leader.

Havi stated that Bondo (Raila Odinga’s hometown) residents are also aware that he is Raila Odinga’s grandson and there can be no fight between the two of them.

“I am Raila Odinga’s formidable grandson. In fact, if you go to Bondo you’ll be told ‘huyu ni kijana ya Baba (this is Raila’s boy)’, so no matter how much you try to pull me away from him you won’t succeed,” Havi said.

The Law Society of Kenya President, who is affiliated with William Ruto eyes the Westlands Parliamentary seat under the UDA ticket.

Havi has been receiving support from Ruto allies such as Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, who once accompanied him to meet the electorates.

Recently, Havi has intensified his campaigns. This comes at a time when incumbent Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi exits the stage to contest for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

However, Havi dismissed reports that he waited for Wanyonyi to exit the stage before declaring his parliamentary bid.

“I declared my interest on May 14, even before Hon. Tim Wanyonyi declared his exit. His exit isn’t the reason for my entry. He has done tremendously well,” he said.

As Havi eyes the Westlands seat, Tim Wanyonyi has received massive support from the ODM fraternity.

On Saturday, October 30, Raila Odinga’s wife Ida endorsed Tim Wanyonyi for the post, promising to advocate for his candidature in ODM.

”Tim has been your MP for two terms. Do you want him to continue as an MP? If he has a dream,, he can achieve it if we help him work towards achieving it,” Ida said.

Additionally, a poll by Mizani Africa showed that Wanyonyi is the most preferred candidate for the Nairobi governorship.
