Martha Karua reminded of day she wished Raila retired ‘I don’t admire his politics’

President William Ruto’s UDA party on Tuesday, October 3, submitted its proposal to the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) at the Bomas of Kenya.

A video of Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua hitting out at ODM leader Raila Odinga and asking him to retire from active politics has emerged in what could be the perfect explanation to the saying; in politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies, just permanent interests.

Karua, who was addressing journalists in the run-up to the 2013 General Election where she unsuccessfully vied for the presidency, said she does not share any political idealogy with the former Prime Minister.

It has to be remembered that fast-forward to 2022, the Narc Kenya leader is now being considered to be Raila Odinga’s presidential running-mate.

“I do not share any values with the Prime Minister Raila Odinga nor do I admire his politics. In fact, I have been calling upon him to go home together with President Mwai Kibaki,

“Both of them have been totally unable to uproot corruption from within their ranks and therefore both the voters of Kenya ought to be good enough to send both of them home one by law and the other by ballot,” Karua said in the old video, seen by Kivumbi.co.ke.

As they say in politics there are no permanent enemies or friends, just permanent interests, Karua commonly referred to as ‘the Iron lady’ in March 2022 officially endorsed the Azimio la Umoja –One Kenya Alliance presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga for the presidency.

This time around, Karua lauded the opposition chief as the best bet for the country saying she is ready to rally her supporters behind him.

“I am here to confirm that from now onwards, Narc Kenya and I are supporting the Azimio la Umoja flagbearer Raila Odinga for the presidency,” Karua said during a joint-presser with Raila at a Nairobi Hotel.

The video has emerged at a time the seven-member Azimio team tasked with interviewing Raila’s potential running mate is scheduled to officially begin the search for a running mate for Raila who is set to take his 5th stab at the presidency.
