High Court Judge Justice Chacha Mwita said the National Security Council has no mandate to deploy police officers to another country.

Chaos erupted in Muriri Muthara, Tigania East sub-county Meru County after bodaboda riders and mama mboga clashed over William Ruto’s KSh 600k handout.

It is suspected that during Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to Meru County 0n Friday, November 19, the presidential hopeful promised to empower Boda Boda operators and Mama mboga with KSh 600k.

This was after an aspiring MP for Tigatia East on a UDA ticket Titus Mwiti asked the Jubilee deputy party leader to help the two factions better their businesses.

However, after the deputy president had left, none of the would-be beneficiaries received their share prompting them to make a follow-up.

While a section of them claimed that area MP Gichunge Kabeabea, who was away during Ruto’s visit was allegedly handed the said cash, another faction claimed that the deputy president did not release the funds as promised.

It later emerged that the 2022 presidential candidate did not release the said cash as promised, something that could have angered the would-be beneficiaries.

This saw them barricaded the Meru-Maua road demanding the cash allegedly left behind for the two groups to share equally amongst themselves.

Police officers were forced to use live bullets and hurl tear gas to disperse the angry crowd who were burning tires on the busy road.

Last month, chaos erupted in Kakamega County after a section of youths accused former Senator Boni Khalwale of eloping with William Ruto’s KSh 1 Million donations.

The members of the UDA party clashed during a press conference in the region, turning violent towards each other appealing to the deputy president to fire Khalwale as his point man in the region.

“I’m here as the MCA of Isukha East, and we want Khalwale to come out and account for Ksh1million Ruto donated to help our youth and women,” he said.
