Mt Kenya billionaires to name President Uhuru’s preferred successor

by Nderi Caren

A section of Mt Kenya billionaires is planning a retreat in Naivasha to name President Uhuru’s preferred successor.

The billionaires, who are part of the Mt Kenya Foundation will hold the famous Limuru 3 conference weeks after talks Raila Odinga and members of One Kenya Alliance (Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, and Gideon Moi).

Kieni MP Kanini Kega said that the organizers of the Limuru 3 convention are planning to have President Uhuru at the retreat.

“Limuru meetings can only be summoned by the community’s leader who is 8currently President Uhuru Kenyatta,” he told the star.

Kanini Kega argued that in the case where president Uhuru is not available, the Mt Kenya billionaires will hold the meeting and declare their own preferred candidate.

Thereafter, the political leadership will make their final decision.

The MP added that the Mt Kenya billionaires cannot dictate President Uhuru’s successor, but rather give the qualities of the ideal candidate.

Even as the Limuru 3 meeting approaches, the Mt Kenya Foundation has not held talks with Deputy President William Ruto who is also a presidential candidate.

This indicated that Ruto does not match the qualities of Uhuru’s preferred successor.

After the Foundation met Raila Odinga and OKA leaders, Ruto dismissed the meetings saying that the decision on presidency lies with the voters.

“Unlike other presidential candidates, I will not go for an interview in Nairobi hotels. I will be interviewed by the common wananchi,” the deputy president said.

Ruto said that the Mt Kenya Foundation is looking for a leader who will protect their wealth at the expense of other Kenyans.

“As rich individuals continue to look for a leader who will protect their wealth after 2022, we are busy with the ordinary people looking for ways of creating wealth for them so that they can improve their lives,” said Ruto.
