A Nyeri Pastor has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against dumping Deputy President William Ruto for ODM leader Raila Odinga in his 2022 succession politics
Bishop James Njoroge of the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA), Nyeri Cathedral of Grace, said it would be unfair for President Uhuru Kenyatta to support his former main rival in the last two elections and to leave Ruto who helped him win the presidency.
“In the run-up to the 2013 presidency, Uhuru (Kenyatta) teamed up with this man (William Ruto) where he crisscrossed every corner of the country saying he will govern for 10 years and leave another 10 years for William Ruto,
“Now (Uhuru’s) 10 years have elapsed and now is the time for who?” the Bishop posed as resident replied ‘William Ruto’.
Bishop Njoroge further took a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta for referring to the deputy president as a thief saying they will not board president Uhuru’s tactics of demonizing the deputy president for his own selfish gains.
In October, retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta warned Mt Kenya residents against voting for his estranged Deputy President William Ruto saying he would ruin his legacy and that of his predecessor retired President Mwai Kibaki.
In what appeared to be an indirect endorsement of ODM chief Raila Odinga and a scathing attack on his deputy president, Uhuru who was addressing residents at Ruiru Town on Friday, October 29, 2021, stated that the gains made by his administration and that of his predecessor Mwai Kibaki risked being destroyed if Kenyans elected thieves to the highest office on land.
“I urge you, don’t be incited. Choose leaders who will ensure this country remains peaceful and united and those who will carry on with the work we already started and not take us back to where we came from,” said President Kenyatta in his native Kikuyu language.
“Please don’t allow Mwai Kibaki’s 10 years and my 10 years to be destroyed by electing thugs and thieves,” added the Head of State.
