One of the 2022 presidential candidates Reuben Kigame has said he will ensure all exiled Kenyans are allowed back into the country should he win the presidential elections.
In an interview on Monday, October 4, the Huniachi hitmaker said exiled Kenyans like Miguna Miguna should come and give back to society.
“What has Miguna Miguna done? If I win the presidency, I want him back in the country. He should be contributing to the legal knowledge, and practice in the country. This is his country, he was born here,” Reuben Kigame said.
The Pan-Africanist further said he does not mind employing Miguna Miguna as his lawyer when he ascends to power.
The Gospel Maestro further said he would wish to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is retiring in August 2022 so that he can bring back political prisoners like Ngugi Wa Thiong’o.
“And I hope others all the come back. I would have wanted all political prisoners back. Suddenly I would want my best authors like Ngigu Wa Thiong’o to be back,” he added.
While ruling out that the 2022 presidential race will be between Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kigame exuded confidence that he will defeat the two perceived to be front runners.
Kigame who had announced to vie for the 2022 presidency on an independent ticket received a major boost after the Federal Party of Kenya endorsed his candidature.
“A million thanks to the Federal Party of Kenya for the decision to support me to become the 5th president of Kenya. It is not a light matter to my team and I! The time for inclusive politics and the birth of a better Kenya is here,” he said.
