Last week, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo’s son’s fiancée came under criticism over her choice of dressing.

During the just-ended annual World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari event in Nakuru, Cecilia, Otiende Amollo’s yet-to-be daughter-in-law stepped out in a tight blue jean trouser with a black crop top exposing some of her sensitive body parts.

The dressing code elicited sharp reactions with netizens saying that it was unacceptable for the senior counsel to see some body parts of his son’s fiancée according to African culture.

The reactions caught the attention of Rodney’s lover who promised to dress decently whenever she hangs around with her to-be father-in-law.

Cecilia promised to wear a dera next time she accompanies her father-in-law to be so that she does not expose some of her body parts not only to the first-time MP but also to the public.

“Sawa basi, next time ni dera,” Cecilia said.

In most African traditions, fathers-in-law are highly respected by their daughters-in-law to an extent that they do not have to even shake hands or even come closer.

During the widely acclaimed sporting event in Nakuru, the legislator took to social media to share a photo of himself, Sports CS Amina Mohamed, his son Rodney together with his fiancée Cecilia.

“Safari Rally, with CS Hon Amina, my son Rodney, his fiancée Cecilia (second right), Naivasha was lit! The drivers were really good!” Otiende captioned the well-captured beautiful photo.

Little-known Rodney has always kept his personal life away from the public despite coming from the well-known family background.

The MP’s son has been an Associate at Rachier & Amollo Advocates LLP since 2018 when he graduated from the Kenya School of Law and earned credentials as an Advocate of the High Court.
