On Friday, July 1, Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition toured the Nyanza region to drum up support for their presidential candidate Raila Odinga
Odinga was accompanied by his 2022 presidential running mate Martha Karua and Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i among other leaders
In what appeared to be a show of might, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition landed in Nyamira for several rallies in seven choppers.
Residents were put at bay as the choppers landed with a huge cloud of dust covering them.
Speaking in Nyamira, the 2022 presidential front runner Raila Odinga poked holes in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto which was launched on Thursday, June 30, by Deputy President William Ruto.
While exuding confidence that he will emerge victorious in the August 9, presidential election, the former prime minister assured the Nyanza region that he will not let it down in terms of development projects
“We have now come for the third liberation and this time around I want you to stand with me to fight the common enemies, Illiteracy, disease and poverty in our county .Let us all rise up and do away with leaders who are giving false promises,” Raila Odinga said.
Commenting on the recent Kisii incident in which she was teargassed, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential running mate Martha Karua said she cannot be scared by “small smoke.”
“Mimi si mtu wa kutishwa na moshi kidogo ndio nimerudi hapa Gusii land ata kama ni Nyamira (I’m not the person to be threatened with small smoke that is why I have returned to Gusii region here in Nyamira),” she said.
