State House Controller says William Ruto is too hungry for power

by Enock Ndayala

Ex-Nakuru governor and current State House Controller Kinuthia Mbugua has warned Kenyans against voting for Deputy President William Ruto in next year’s presidential election.

Without mentioning names, Mbugua who had accompanied ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to a fundraiser in aid of St Cecilia Catholic Church in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua, on Sunday, September 5, cast doubts on some of the promises made by William Ruto.

“There are people whose only goal is to get into the State House next year. They are self-centered. They are the architects of derailing development during President Uhuru’s term,” the State House Controller said in an apparent reference to William Ruto.

Ruto who has been opposing President Uhuru’s handshake pact with ODM leader Raila Odinga saw Mbugua criticise Ruto’s habit of taking on an administration that he is still part of.

“These are people who feel angered when they see the President uniting the country and its leaders. They want us to keep seeing each other as enemies,” Mbugua said.

Mbugua joins the list of civil servants who have publicly come out to criticize the former Agriculture minister following his fall out with his boss.

Last week, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i while National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and National Security to shed light on the recent changes made to DP Ruto’s security team accused Ruto of seeking sympathy votes.

Earlier on, ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru accused the Deputy President of misleading the youth with his ‘hustler’ narrative.

On his part, William Ruto over the weekend said he is being fought by state officials and some opposition leaders for his standing with Wanjiku.

“Many leaders have ganged up and say we must fight Ruto (William) because he has sent word to the Hustlers,

“The ganging up you see is because they are worried that Hustlers (Wanjiku) are starting to realize that even their interests are important and should be included in the national debate so that they too can rise to the top,” DP Ruto said.
