by Enock Ndayala

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has reassured the nascent One Kenya Alliance (OKA) supporters that the coalition shall unveil its 2022 presidential flag bearer in January 2022.

Wetang’ula said the coalition which brings together Musalia Mudavaddi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), and Gideon Moi (Kanu) was not in a hurry to unveil who will face ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto in next year’s General Election.

The Bungoma Senator who was addressing a press conference at his Bungoma home on Friday, December 24, further said that selecting a flag bearer is a process that requires a lot of thought and deliberation and as such should not be hurried.

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has reassured the nascent One Kenya Alliance (OKA) supporters that the coalition shall unveil its 2022 presidential flag bearer in January 2022.

“We want to urge Kenyans to forget about the naysayers who think that OKA is moving slowly, good coalitions and good preparations for elections are never hurried. We have promised Kenyans that by the end of January we shall be unveiling our OKA candidate,” Wetang’ula said.

This comes barely hours after a section of politicians allied to the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi said they will make an announcement on Sunday, December 26, on whether they will walk out of the coalition or stay put.

Led by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala and Butere MP Tindi Mwale the ANC legislator in November threatened to quit the coalition if it would not have unveiled its presidential flag bearer by Saturday, December 25.

“We are still waiting but we will be meeting on December 26 and then issue a statement,” Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala told the Star.

Mwale said the ANC will quit the coalition should it not pick Musalia Mudavadi to face off with perceived presidential front runners William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

“If we won’t have known the presidential candidate who we know is Musalia Mudavadi, then we, as ANC, will decide to leave and form another alliance to deliver the presidency for Mudavadi in 2022,” he said.
