Polycarp Igathe seeks blessing from the landlord of Nairobi’s famous brothel

by Amos Khaemba

With 95 days to the General Elections, Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe has sought the endorsement of billionaire Gerald Gikonyo.

On Thursday, May 5, Igathe met Gikonyo, the tycoon, who is the landlord of Sabina Joy, Nairobi’s most recognized home of prostitution along Moi Avenue.

Revealing the details of the meeting, Igathe took social media to applaud the tycoon for the role he has played in the development of Nairobi County.

“‘Do you have passion for Nairobi County and its People?’ This is the question, Mzee Gerald Gikonyo Kanyuira asked when I visited him. My answer was yes and my answer is still yes.

“If you know the history of Nairobi, then you must know the Rwathia Group of entrepreneurs and Mzee Gerald Gikonyo Kanyuira. A story of unrivaled dedication, passion, and inspiration setting an example in ambition, personal discipline, frugality, and entrepreneurship.” Igathe stated.

Igathe pledged to follow the footsteps of the city businessman by ensuring he involves other people in the management of the city if he wins the August polls.

“We cannot achieve much alone”. And this is the biggest lesson that Mzee Gikonyo Kanyuira shares as he narrates how he and the Rwathia Group built their business empire in Nairobi. A man of honor and an iconic custodian of the ‘Key to Nairobi’s Door’. From a man who came to Nairobi in 1928 in search of a better life, I chose to sit with him and get his blessing as I run for Nairobi Governor.” Igathe said.

Gikonyo is an established businessman who in 2017 was given a ceremonial key by President Uhuru Kenyatta for his contribution to the creation of jobs for city residents.

With the ceremonial key, the tycoon had the opportunity of parking his cars free of charge, attend all county and national governments functions, and have a road named after him.
