In a statement on Wednesday, November 8, the ODM MP said it was not easy to find a strong and courageous lady like Kawira Mwangaza who had stopped Senate business for two days.

“The business of the Senate has stopped for 2 days to discuss Governor Kawira Mwangaza. Strong Woman!,” he said on X (formerly Twitter).

As such, Kaluma who recently urged the Senate to dismiss Kawira Mwangaza’s impeachment case hoped her daughter would emulate the Meru Governor when she grows up.

“When my daughter grows up, I’ll want her to be like Governor Kawira; to beat women and men in elections, face, and defeat impeachment motions in the Senate, and lead with courage!” he added.

Mwangaza defeated seasoned politicians including former Jubilee Secretary General Kiraitu Murungi and former Meru Senator Mithika Linturi in the 2022 General Election.

Mwanza, who was recently impeached by the Meru County Assembly, is currently facing a full Senate House over seven charges leveled against her.

The charges include; Misappropriation and misuse of County resources, Illegal appointments and usurpation of statutory powers, and Contempt of Court.

Other charges are illegally naming a public road after her husband as well as Contempt of the Assembly among others.

The governor is later today expected to know her fate later when all the senators will be voting to either kick her out or dismiss the case.
