Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come under fire for flaunting a KSh 32 million Range Rover.

A photo of the second in command in a swanky 2022 Range Rover has been doing rounds on social media.

Gachagua, who was recently in South C, Nairobi stepped out in a new 2022 Range Rover.

It is believed that the grey luxury SUV UK-made vehicle made in 2022 cost approximately KSh 32 million.

According to Car and Drive, the Range Rover comes with a turbocharged six-cylinder engine or a 524-horsepower twin-turbo V-8.

The Deputy President’s expensive car purchase comes amid a string of new taxes and high fuel prices that have worsened the already high cost of living in Kenya.

Most Kenyans online blasted the politician for flaunting his wealth at a time when the country was struggling with a high cost of living.

For instance, the cost of fuel has for the first time in Kenya’s history crossed the KSh 200 mark, pushing the cost of other basic commodities up beyond reach for the majority of Kenyans.

Kenyans who were irked by the country’s second most senior leader castigated the deputy president for buying luxury cars when common citizens cannot afford food.

“How can he buy such a car when people are struggling to put food on the table?” one Twitter user wrote.
