Sifuna wants President Ruto apologize to Kenyans for lying to get elected

by Enock Ndayala
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has assured President William Ruto that he will still lose in the 2027 presidential race even if he names Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as his presidential running mate.

In April 2022, the then UDA presidential candidate William Ruto lashed out at now Rtd President Uhuru Kenyatta over the hike in fuel prices.

Ruto who was then serving as the country’s second in command ruled out the Russia-Ukrain war as the factor pushing the cost of fuel up.

He instead blamed the rising cost of fuel on cartels and state capture.

“The corruption cartels at the Ministry of Petroleum should explain to Kenyans why dealers have increased their profits from KSh 9 to KSh 12,” Ruto said.

However, one year later, the cost of fuel has hit a historic high with Kenya Kwanza government led by President William Ruto admitting that the hike in the cost of fuel is a global issue.

As such, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna now wants President William Ruto to come out and apologize to Kenyans for lying to them to get elected.

“At the very minimum, he (President William Ruto) owes Kenyans an apology… Let him come out to Kenyans and say yes I lied to you to get your votes and I did not know what I was doing but I need help,

“Where is the sense of responsibility? Will we see Ruto come and say sorry to Wanjiku, bodaboda person and mama mboga that I lied to you and that you were fools to believe my lies,” Sifuna said during an interview on Citizen TV on Thursday, September 21.

The ODM party Secretary General further said by lying to Kenyans, Ruto had committed a crime for going against the Leadership and Integrity Act.

“Under the Leadership and Integrity Act, it is actually a crime for which you should be jailed for a public officer to give false information to the public,” Sifuna added.
