Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali alias Jicho Pevu now wants gay (LGBTQ) advocates jailed.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 10, the former journalist said there should be no discussions around LGBTQ and that it is illegal and not likable by God.

“Let us not waste time discussing LGBTQ or whatever name they call it. It’s illegal. God doesn’t like it and we should not entertain it. On this one Democracy is my foot. Jail them,” the legislator said in a Tweet.

This comes days after the killing of a renowned fashion model and gay activist Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo commonly known as Chiloba by his lover Jacktone Odhiambo in a suspected love triangle.

Chiloba was on Friday, January 6, found murdered and his body was stuffed in a metal box that was dumped at Kipkaren on the outskirts of Eldoret Town, Uasin Gishu County.

After investigations, the police in Eldoret arrested his close friend, Jacktone Odhiambo, who is being treated as the key suspect in the gruesome murder of the model and queer community activist.

Odhiambo who is being held at Langas police station over the gruesome murder of a gay crusader is said to have confessed to killing Chiloba after claims of infidelity in their relationship.

On Tuesday, January 10, the United States (US) government offered to assist Kenyan authorities with their investigations into the killing of bisexual rights activist Edwin Chiloba.

“Violence against LGBTQI+ persons or anyone, of course, is unacceptable. But when violence stems from possible bias or stigma, it indirectly harms all members of the targeted community,” said Ned Price, US State Department spokesperson, during a news conference.

In 2019, Kenya’s High Court upheld laws criminalizing homosexual acts between consenting adults in Kenya.

Article 162 punishes “carnal knowledge against the order of nature” with up to 14 years in prison, while article 165 makes “indecent practices between males” liable to up to five years in prison.
