Billionaire Jimmy Wanjigi has declared ODM leader Raila Odinga to officially declare his 2022 presidential ambition.

During his tour of the coastal region on October 2, Jimmy Wanjigi said that Raila Odinga can not be the only factor in ODM, and should give other members a chance to serve.

The businessman challenged Raila Odinga to declare his 2022 presidential ambition, vowing not to leave the ODM party since he has heavily invested in it.

“Raila cannot be a player, the umpire, the referee, the linesman and the VAR. He should announce his candidature and face all other interested candidates within the party law,” Jimmy Wanjigi said.

There have been speculations that Raila Odinga is the presidential flagbearer for the ODM Party, but he has not officially declared his candidature.

Despite going around the countr and holding campaigns, Raila Odinga has not submitted his nomination papers to ODM nor stated that he will be in the ballot come 2022.

In his address to Mombasa residents, Wanjigi also told the ODM leadership that he expects free and fair nominations.

He vowed to continue investing in his presidential ambition by opening party offices in grassroots levels.

The billionaire has been locking horns with ODM leadership over the manner in which they are conducting grassroots nominations.

Last month, Wanjigi wrote a letter to the party leadership, seeking answers on why they held grassroots nominations without notifying members.

Wanjigi also crossed paths with ODM for opening grassroots offices across the country.

On September 30, the party reached a decision to take disciplinary actions on the likes of Wanjigi, who are opening party offices without following due procedure.

“We wish to remind all members that whenever there is a need to open any party office, the same must be done in consultation with the national office failure to which such offices will not be recognized,

“Further note that such brazen violation of the Party’s rule will attract disciplinary action to those involved,” Sifuna said after a meeting chaired by ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
