In the IPSOS poll that was released on Tuesday, August 2, 12 counties spread across the country are yet to decide whether to cast their votes for Raila Odinga or William Ruto.

Analysis of data from the survey indicates that Raila has a strong lead at the coast, north of Nyanza, lower eastern, and South Nyanza regions.

Among those that Raila enjoys massive support include Bungoma, Garissa, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Machakos, Makueni, Migori, and Nairobi.

Others include Siaya, Taita Taveta, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, and Vihiga counties.

Lamu, Nyamira, Wajir, Mombasa, Kitui, Samburu, Nakuru, Narok, Kiambu, Bungoma, Tana River, and Marsabit counties remain undecided less than a week to the much-awaited General Election.

IPSOS said the 12 devolved units will pose as key battlegrounds for the candidates, and whoever will manage to walk away with a popularity of 55 percent and above in them will be the winner in the elections.

“If we paint the countries in different strengths, we see that Raila Odinga has 18 counties with a voter preference of above 55 percent. William Ruto has 17 counties where voter preference is 55 percent for him,” IPSOS director Sam Muthoka said.

However, Ruto has a strong lead in the vote-rich Mount Kenya and central rift regions.
