Kisumu Senator Tom Ojenda was on Tuesday, September 19, among the top trending after a video of him launching an iron-walled office surfaced online.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the ODM senator was captured launching the structure designated as a new office for the Assistant Chief in the Achego sub-location.

The structure itself is constructed from iron sheets, commonly known as mabati, featuring an earthen floor, and a wooden door with a blue latch.

“Today, I declare the office of the Assistant Chief Achego Sub-Location officially open,” the senator said as he cut a green ribbon to signify the official launch of the office.

In his speech, the ODM rebel senator said the office was a sign of the developments he was working to bring to the region because of his close relationship with President William Ruto’s government.

“Have you the sign of development? I always say, turn to the government because that is the only way you can bring development to your people,” Ojienda said.

Responding to the development, Kenyans took to social media terming the launch as a joke and a mockery of Kenyan voters.

“Senator Tom Ojienda launching a KSh 10 million office for Achego sub-location assistant chief in Kisumu County. Congratulations on a good job,

“State House Development must reach to the people. If you must work with Kenya Kwanza to bring development, no one should stop you,” a user identified as Alinur Mohammed said on X.

“Some projects done by the politicians are an embarrassment to our nation,” another Kenyans said.

Ojienda, who is among the leaders expelled from opposition leader Raila Odinga’s ODM party for violating party rules, was further trolled for his perceived disloyalty for aligning himself politically with President William Ruto and visiting State House frequently.
