The ex-Churchil raw comedian vied for the Imenti South parliamentary seat as an independent candidate after turning down a job offer in William Ruto’s presidential campaign team.

In a new interview with SPM Buzz, Jessey revealed that he started his campaigns in August 2021, where he used approximately KSh 4.8 million per month.

“I campaigned for 12 months. My friends supported me and I didn’t spend KSh 1 billion or even half a million. But I spent money. My pocked felt it. I used about KSh 58 million,” he revealed.

Unlike other politicians who resort to vote-rigging after failing to achieve their dreams, the comedian-cum-media personality, MC Jessey said he lost because his competitor was not only smarter than him but because he had strategies.

“A campaign requires strategy. I lost it to the candidate who was smarter than me,” he added.

He further regretted campaigning against somebody who had money and experience as he had unsuccessfully sought the seat four consecutive times.

“I was competing with a 71-year-old billionaire. Somebody who has vied for the seat four times and this was his first time.

“Perhaps he just beat me this time due to sympathy and not manifestos and strategies. His money also helped him because he spent 10 times what I spent,” he said.

After his defeat, MC Jessey urged his supporters to take the loss honorably, adding that he will bounce back strong in the 2027 General Election.

“I personally want to congratulate my worthy competitor Shadrack as he prepares to be the new Member of Parliament for Imenti South,

“To the people of South Imenti Constituency, I sincerely thank you so much for the time we have interacted during our campaign time. It has been a great journey… Take heart ni siasa tu,” he said in a Facebook post.
