Pokot South MP David Pkosing has opined that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is opposed to the talks between President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 1, during an interview on Citizen TV, the legislator said that DP Gachagua has held the president hostage.

He said the Head of State was after uniting the country but his deputy instead wants to blackmail the president.

Pokot South MP David Pkosing has opined that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is opposed to the talks between President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

“President Ruto is under siege from DP Rigathi Gachagua. President Ruto’s body language indicates that he wants talks and to bring the nation together, but DP Gachagua is opposed to those things,”

“You could see who represented the President and who represented the Deputy President. The DP does not want this country to unite and they want to blackmail the president,” Pkosing said.

Earlier on, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale reprimanded a section of Mount Kenya leaders arguing that they were unconscious of the gravity of the talks between the government and the opposition.

Khalwale singled out Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua saying that the second in command was harboring selfish interests and was out to deter the talks by issuing insensitive demands.

“I have heard Mount Kenya leaders issuing demands that the Deputy President must be in the talks between President William Ruto and Honourable Raila Odinga,

“I would like to tell them that such demands are premature and are not good for the country,” Khalwale said.

The president on Monday, July 31, stated that his meeting with his political nemesis Raila Odinga was intended to lay the groundwork for the dialogue.

The high cost of living, a review of the 2022 General Election, and the bipartisan re-organization of Kenya’s electoral commission are some of the issues the Azimio delegation plans to bring up during the meeting.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has already appointed five representatives trusted to spearhead talks with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Coalition.
