MP Oscar Sudi blasts Omingo Magara for ditching UDA, ‘political prostitution’

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has termed as ‘political prostitution’ the move by former Mugirango legislator Omingo Magara to ditch UDA.

On Monday, February 28, Omingo Magara walked out of the United Democratic Alliance where he was serving as the national party treasurer saying that the outfit lacked democracy.

“My political future and ambitions cannot be sufficiently addressed by the UDA party. I therefore immediately resign as a party member and as a treasurer,” he said.

But taking to his Facebook page hours later, MP Oscar Sudi, an ardent supporter of the UDA party refuted claims that Magara ditched the outfit due to lack of democracy in William Ruto’s party.

The outspoken legislator argued that the Kisii gubernatorial hopeful had asked for a direct ticket.

“It’s not about democracy in UDA but it’s about your greed and failure to embrace democracy within the party. You wanted to be given a direct ticket which is against our party norms,” Sudi said.

Sudi who is eying the Uasi Gishu gubernatorial ticket further accused former UDA national treasurer of denying the party a chance to conduct an opinion poll to help in finding the most popular candidate to fly the party’s flag.

“You denied the party a chance to conduct opinion polls. Stop crying, we know this is just but normal (unprintable insult) we are used to,” he added.

Magara was expected to battle it out with Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu for the UDA ticket to contest for the Kisii County boss position.

He said he had opted to go back to the People Democratic Party (PDP) led by Migori Governor Okoth Obado on whose ticket he will be seeking the Kisii governorship.

He is expected to square it out with Dagoreti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati.
