United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National party treasure Omingo Magara has finally dumped the party, an outfit heavily linked to Deputy President William Ruto.

Magara who has expressed ambitions to succeed retiring Kisii Governor James Ongwae in the August 9, General Election said the party lacks democracy citing unfair nominations in the upcoming primaries.

“For a long time, I have harbored an ambition to be the Kisii County Governor through the UDA party where I was also the national treasurer. However, there have since been developments that render my candidature through the UDA Party impossible,

“After considerable reflections and consultations with my people in Kisii County, national leaders, family and friends, my political future and ambitions cannot be sufficiently addressed by the UDA party, I therefore immediately resign as a party member and as a treasurer,” he said.

The former Mugirango Member of Parliament who was addressing journalists on Monday, February 28, said leaving the Wheelbarrow party was a heavy decision to make.

“This has been such a heavy decision to make, as we must always allow the voice of the people we seek to lead to prevail over and above our personal ambitions,” he said.

Magara said he had opted to go back to the People Democratic Party (PDP) led by Migori Governor Okoth Obado.

On Sunday, February 27, the former legislator had dismissed news circulating on social media claiming that he had decamped from the party affiliated to former Jubilee deputy party leader.

“I’ve seen with dismay messages and propaganda circulating all over social media with unsubstantiated messages attributed to me. Kindly ignore all rumours, I am a man of principle and will communicate through my handles,” he said in a Tweet.

This happened just a day after social media was awash with reports of the former South Mgirango MP leaving the UDA party for Azimio la Umoja.
