Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Alfred Mutua, and Moses Kuria were among the 8 Cabinet Secretaries affected by the changes in a move that saw various ministries merged and renamed.

The changes announced on the night of Wednesday, October 4, saw the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary expanded to include the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, headed by Musalia Mudavadi.

Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria were moved to the newly reconstituted and renamed Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.

Kuria, who has been at loggerheads with a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders was replaced by Rebecca Miano who was moved from the Ministry of East African Community.

Alfred Mutua was also moved from Foreign Affairs to the Ministry of Tourism, replacing Peninah Malonza who takes over from Miano.

In a communication dispatched by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Water CS Alice Wahome swapped positions with Zachary Njeru of the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, and Urban Development.

The reshuffle comes just weeks after Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi hinted at a possible re-assignment of Cabinet secretaries.

Mudavadi last month said it’s within the President’s mandate to, in his wisdom, make changes in government when he feels it is the right time.

“The President is clear about one thing, this administration is about efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery to the people,”

“At an appropriate time and in his wisdom, the President could make such changes,” Mudavadi said.
