Kandara MP Alice Wahome now says the yet-to-be-formed Kenya Kwanza coalition will beat Azimio la Umoja hands down in the first round.
According to the vocal legislator, the proposed coalition bringing together Deputy President William Ruto, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula, there will be no re-run in the August 9 presidential elections.
She maintained that William Ruto will easily beat Raila Odinga to the presidency with or without the support of Mudavadi and Wetang’ula because his party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has a coalition with the Kenyans.
“We are planning to win the 2022 presidential election in the first round with or without partners,
“Our first coalition partners are Kenyans and that’s why people misunderstood what we are talking about. William Ruto has gone to Kenyans and he has other partners who have come on board,” she said.
Wahome who was appearing on Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange on Wednesday, February 2, said the former One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula joined William Ruto because they were being mistreated in their previous camps.
“They ()RTaila Odinag camp) will wait for the collapse of this union, it will not happen. These people are very inconsiderate, they mistreated Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula,” she added.
Wahome’s remarks come barely days after ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi revealed that he joined forces with William Ruto because he was capable of defeating Raila in round one.
Mudavadi, who was addressing the media after a church service at St Faith Parish, ACK in Rongai, on Sunday, January 30, maintained that his decision to work with Ruto was the only option to avoid a run-off in the August 9, General Election.
“We want to take victory in the first round of the elections. Round one. Hatutaki kurudia, tunataka tushinde round one… Sasa kwa wale ambao wanababaika, waambie (to those trembling, tell them) those are the effects of the earthquake na (and) earthquake inaendelea (wil continue shaking them),” Mudavadi said.
