President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s efforts to unite ODM leader Raila Odinga and the One Kenya Alliance principals ahead of the August 9, General Election has received a major boost.

This is after the opposition leader Raila Odinga on Sunday, February 20, briefly met with the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at Tamarind hotel in Mombasa County.

According to unmentioned sources, the two have been secretly holding talks and that the one held yesterday was part of the ongoing discussions.

“The two leaders discussed the possibility of them joining hands to work together in the coming General Election because they have one common enemy who is Deputy President William Ruto. Of course, the talks have been ongoing and this one was just one of the processes,” the source said as quoted by the People Daily.

The meeting by the two former principals in the now-dead National Super Alliance (NASA) has ignited speculations about the two former allies working together in the August 9, General Election.

Also at the meeting was Baringo Senator and KANU chairman Gideon Moi.

The meeting between Kalonzo and Raila happened a few days after the Wiper leader said in a rally in Nyamira that there were plans between One Kenya Alliance and Raila Odinga’s camop indicating that there was a possibility of working together in the forthcoming elections.

“The time to win the presidency in the first round is in the making. We are in talks to make this a reality,” Kalonzo said then.

He said the talks between him and the former prime minister spearheaded by the head of state were at advanced stages and that the results would be made public soon.

“I have made it clear that we are talking to President Uhuru Kenyatta. You may be thinking that he is going away but he is busy strengthening Jubilee,” he said.
