Raila Odinga men ask DP Ruto to prepare to readily accept defeat in 2022

Deputy President William Ruto enticed Kisumu hustlers with the 'Raila Tosha' slogan as he campaigned for the Bottom-up economic model in the region.

Raila Odinga allies have challenged Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto to readily accept defeat in the 2022 presidential elections should he lose.

ODM Chairman John Mbadi, Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, and Director of Elections Junet Mohammed claimed that William Ruto’s recent brand of politics points to someone out to find an excuse to dispute the 2022 presidential results.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 9, when Raila Odinga hosted a delegation from Ukambani counties of Machakos, Kitu, and Makueni at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi, Sifuna said challenged the presidential hopeful to assure the country that he will accept the outcome of the 2022 contest.

He said Ruto has been looking for anything to hold on, as an excuse for a poor 2022 run.

“I am already worried and I want Ruto to assure the country that he will accept defeat in 2022. People have seen all the signs that Raila is the 5th President; even Ruto has seen the signs and that is why he has started all these stories. We want an assurance from Ruto that he will accept the outcome of the 2022 General Election,” Sifuna said.

On his part, ODM Director of Elections who is also the Suna East MP Junet Mohammed hit out at William Ruto, claiming the former Agriculture Minister has realised the ground has drastically changed and was now trying to divert attention with claims of plans to rig the polls.

“When you see a politician making complaints it is a sign they have started losing the ground,” Junet said.

Junet said when the Tanga Tanga had support across the country; they castigated ODM when it demanded reforms at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission hence should be last to lecture others on polls management.

“When we told them there was a need for reforms at the IEBC, they told us even if we have Oburu (Oginga, Raila’s elder brother) as the commission’s chair, they would still win. They are now complaining that so and so is supporting Raila,” Junet said.
